The Porterhouse steak is a classic steakhouse cut that consists of two steaks in one: a generous portion of Filet Mignon (tenderloin) on one side of the T-shaped bone, and a New York Strip (striploin) on the other.  This combination provides both buttery tenderness from the filet and robust beefy flavor from the stip.  The tenderloin in a true Porterhouse is typically 1 1/4 inch or larger in diameter, ensuring a premium portion for the steak experience.
